The Frenchie revisited by Dior

Dior has just renewed their manicure line & they’ve included a Frenchie pen. Well at least I call it a Frenchie pen, but Dior named it the Instant French Manicure Pen. I’ll have to admit to having a little Frenchie history. I used to sport gel frenchies way, way, waaaaay long ago. I ditched them when I started college, because during my very first class I quickly realized that Frenchies had gone out of fashion from the minute I enrolled. I even did a special kind of Frenchie: I added a thin line of pink glitter on top of the white tip. I know, I used to be such a girly girl. And now, loads of years later.. Dior decided to bring the Frenchie back

They brought it back as an easy and DIY style pen that has the tip of a regular marker and needs to be ‘loaded’ with white nail varnish by pushing the end of the pen. Shake well to ensure an even coating, and then immediately paint your nails. It’s quite easy to use, but you’ll need two coats for full opacity. After a couple of tries the white polish does stain the tip which makes it gradually harder to get a decent result, so I suggest that you dip the tip in some nail polish remover and dry it off before storing the pen after using it.

Adding a white tip adds so much to a nude nail, and when you make it a modest Frenchie like the second picture, I find the result very fancy and completely work-proof. I added a soft pink top coat (MAC Lacquer in Delicate) to blend the newly painted white tip & regular nail together, which also gives it a bit of a gloss and a more natural and polished look. Dior also carries a soft pink top coat (Diorlisse Abricot), but I don’t own that one myself. I wore the second manicure for two days without chipping and just some minor tip wear. This is a great alternative to regular nude nails.. if you have the time of course. The last style is a bit bolder with thicker white tips, but I like thinner tips more.. It’s much more natural, but I’ve noticed during my Frenchie years that everyone has their preference with these.

The Dior Instant French Manicure Pen retails for €25.50 suggested retail price in Belgium and has been in stores since September 4th. This is their new manicure line, so should be available all year through.
