It was love at first sight. First sight being February this year, when the first pictures of ‘those weird toothbrushes M.A.C used during fashion week’ surfaced. It was M.A.C’s VP of Artistry that first talked about them and assured it would completely change the way we apply make-up at home. Think less buffing in, less swirling around & more gliding/sweeping on skin. It took M.A.C another 9 months to finally bring these brushes to the US, and mid January they’ll hit the European M.A.C stores. I got a little introduction to them today & took some pictures. Of course!
I only got to touch them (they are SO soft!) and briefly talked about them with the make-up artist that was present, which has only made me more excited to finally try these out for real. The largest brush (called Oval 6) is perfect for applying foundation, powders, primers and even blushes and bronzers. The medium brush (Oval 3) is quite versatile and can be used for applying eyeshadow, but also works perfectly for precise application of concealer. It’s also great for highlighting & contouring with cream products. The smallest brush (Linear 1) is used to create smudgy eyeliner and the positioning of the brush handle allows you to get really close to the lash line easily. All three brushes are extremely soft! They’re made from a new kind of synthetic bristle and feel like pure luxury.
I am lusting over the Oval 6 first of all, but after hearing two M.A.C make-up artists talk very fondly of the Oval 3 as well (especially for concealer application), I might have to get both. They’re priced between €27 and €44 (can’t remember the price of the Oval 3, sorry), which is at the same price level as other M.A.C make-up brushes. But these make me way more excited! I have a hunch that these brushes might set off my brush craziness again.. Just when I finally thought my collection was pretty much complete! I’ll definitely report back when I get my hands on these. Stay tuned!
