Luminous skin with the Yves Rocher Collector Compact

Right before Christmas I got a little package with some products of the Yves Rocher holiday collection, and although I haven’t been able to try out all of the products and some of them are probably already sold out.. I still want to tell you about my very favourite product of the bunch since perhaps you can still find it at -50% at your local Yves Rocher store! The Collector Compact Face Powder comes in one universal shade and adds a lovely glow to your skin. It’s limited edition for the holidays (at least in Belgium it is), so be quick if you want to snatch it at half of the original price!
It’s packaged in a pretty gold compact and contains 8 grams of product. The compact itself is extra pretty because of the embossed flower in the product itself. This will of course fade over time as you use it, but it’s a nice extra touch. The powder comes in one universal shade which suits my pale skin perfectly, so I’m not too sure whether darker skin tones will find this one to work nicely on their skin. I use this powder to set my foundation as I always do, lightly sweeping the product over my face with my big powder Lancôme powder brush. There’s a very slight shimmer in the powder which is not noticeable at all, it adds a nice luminosity to the skin.
If I had to compare this budget (mid range? it retails for €19.50 in Belgium so it’s definitely not the cheapest) to a high end version, I’d compare it to the Chanel Vitalumière Compact Douceur, reviewed here. The Chanel powder is a bit softer because of the ‘whipping’ technique they use, but in terms of finish & purpose the Yves Rocher powder comes close. I still found the Yves Rocher compact online on the UK website here for £24.50& the Canadian website here for $15.20.
