It hasn’t even snowed here yet, and already the Spring collections are knocking on our door. It looks like all kinds of pinks are stealing the show this year, from the lightest fragile pinks to the wildest fuchsias. While some skin shades might find pink difficult to wear.. I’m pretty lucky this season as pinks translate quite well on my neutral to cool & very pale skin tone. Lancôme as well is jumping on that pink bandwagon, while also presenting their gorgeous new muse and ambassadress Lily Collins in the campaign for the French Ballerine Spring collection. Launching in a couple of weeks here, I got a little preview and have already sported some pretty soft pink on my lids with the Dazzling Ombre Hypnôse in Spinelle Rose.
This collection is perfect for anyone who likes to dream of twirling around in a gorgeous pink tutu, or sometimes feels a little princessy tout court. The formula of the Dazzling Ombre Hypnôse reminds me of that of Chanel’s Illusion d’Ombre: it’s a squishy mousse that can be used easily with a brush, but is perhaps the easiest to apply with your fingers.
Color pay-off is really well, you can apply it as a light wash or build it up to a much denser coverage. It applies as a creamy mousse, but upon application changes to a powdery texture. It’s important not to wait too long to blend, as it dries up quickly. The formula is supposed to be water-proof and very long-lasting, and I can only agree that this did not budge all day! I find that pinks work really well with green eyes, and this one in particular looks very fresh and happy when applied all over the lid. Pinks combine well with blues and purples, but if you want to go a bit more neutral for daytime looks you could look for a soft brown color to pair it with.
Lancôme’s French Ballerine collection is already to be found in stores in the United Stated & the United Kingdom, and will arrive in Belgian stores on February 1st. This Dazzling Ombre Hypnôse in Spinelle Rose retails for €27.00, £21.00 or $36.00.
