Landed Safely Today: Clinique's Neutral Territory 2 Palette!
Sunday, February 09, 2014
A month or so ago I spotted a brand new neutral palette on Instagram, and although I own too many of those as it is, my brain immediately went into obsessive mode. Just one Instagram pic, and I became obsessed with the little thing. And nope, I’m absolutely not talking about the Naked 3.. (although admittedly I better not see many more Instagram looks featuring it or I’ll cave in). I’m talking Clinique’s Neutral Territory 2. A total homerun of a palette: let me demonstrate.
The palette comes in the usual Clinique packaging which is very pretty, until you touch it for the first time. From then on it’s absolute fingerprint madness, a bit like NARS packaging but luckily more cleanable. There are eight shades, ranging from a true white shimmery colour to a very dark and intense warm brown.
From left to right: Sugar Cane (a soft shimmer), the light shade from the Diamond and Pearls duo, the light shade from the Neutral Territory duo, the light shade from the Day Into Date duo, the brown shade from the Polar Blue quad, Hazy (a super shimmer), Black Honey (a super shimmer) & the dark brown shade from the Morning Java Quad. As you see most of these shades have been pulled from existing duo’s and quads, so you could look at this palette as a little ‘best of Clinique neutrals' collection.
The colours are beautiful, my only remark perhaps is that three of those very light shades is a bit too much in an eight shade palette; two very light shades would’ve been just fine. That’s the only negative thing I could find here, and it’s not even actually negative.. Just a thought. The texture of the eyeshadows is divine: creamy and soft, with little to no fall-out upon application. And the most important thing: the pigmentation is spot on. Just look at those darkest shades.. Wow, right? Good going Clinique!
This is a very neutral look I did which would be perfect to wear to the office or school daily. It’ll add some depth to your eyes, but won’t draw attention. Use shade number two or three as a base, and then work shade number five into your crease until you’ve achieved the desired definition. Finish of with a tiny bit of shade number one into the inner eye corner, but this is not necessary.
I went a little bit grungy here, drawing inspiration from those nonchalant rock chicks like Brody Dalle (the wife of Josh Homme, lucky girl..) that sport messy matte eye looks on stage like no other. For this look I used shade number four all over my moving eyelid and into the crease, followed by using shade number 7 with quite a messy hand into the crease & under my lower lash line. I placed a tiny bit of shade number eight right onto the upper eyelashes for some extra definition.
And here I did a classic dark evening look, using quite a large selection of shades within the palette, with shade number eight worked heavily into the crease. The shades blend so well that this look took me under five minutes.. It’s just so easy because of the divine eyeshadow texture!
Overall I think this is one of the best launches this Spring, I’m totally in love with it. I used the palette a few times in the past week and even the lasting power of these eyeshadows is amazing: they last all day through, without creasing!
This Clinique All About Eyeshadow palette in Neutral Territory 2 is launching today in Belgium, exclusively on the Clinique webshop here (with free shipping above €40). It retails for €46.55 and is limited edition. You might want to hurry with this one, as abroad (where it’s been launched already) these have been selling like crazy due to a little blog/Instagram hype. We also get four nude coloured nail polishes in the collection here, of which I’ll be showing you two next week. Stay tuned!
