A Late Discovery: Philosophy's Microdelivery Peel

So how exactly did I not try this before? Rewind to end of January this year - I was introduced to some new things that are launching chez Ici Paris XL (a local perfume/beauty store chain in Belgium, The Netherlands & Luxembourg) this Spring and when I returned home I found myself with this set in my hands, ready to dive in. Philosophy’s Microdelivery Peel is a two-step microdermabrasion peel designed to use at home - while for the usual hefty microdermabrasion session you’d have to pay big bucks and see a skin specialist. With promises of a radiant, healthy & plumped skin in just five minutes, I had some pretty high expectations. Gorgeous skin, right here & now please!
Using the set is easy, although it’s key to religiously follow the steps. You start out by applying the vitamin C crystals (the yellow stuff from the jar) to a clean, dry face. Gentle massage these in (don’t use too much pressure, we’re not scrubbing) for about two minutes. Then, you apply a thin layer of the lactic/salicylic acid activating gel over the crystals. I found this pretty tricky because it quickly adheres to the crystals, so it’s key to work with little bits of product at a time per area. When you’re done applying an even layer, all you need to do is wait for a minute or two while you’re face is all foamy and warm, and then rinse it off thoroughly with warm water. Those who know their skin can take a lil’ something can keep on massaging during this last step for even better results.
And then for the most important part - the results. Although I did not see a huge change after the very first use, I sure did feel it. My skin has rarely been as soft as straight after using this peel! Clearly visible results came after a few weeks of use - think clearer and brighter skin. This is absolutely the perfect peel to use once a week on Sunday evening, no more & no less. Although this might not be the heftiest peel out there (I’ve been told about that famous copper peel by Omorovicza), but I still feel like it’s quite heavy in terms of what I think most women use. To make myself perfectly clear: it’s not too heavy for most skin types, I just feel like we’re sometimes a little afraid of turning to the good ‘n heavy stuff. Do note that although my skin (which is prone to acne & quite oily) loves this stuff, I would take good care if you’ve got super sensitive & dry skin.
The Microdelivery Peel kit by Philosophy retails for around €60 in Belgium and is available exclusively at Ici Paris XL. I think you get a good eight to ten uses out of each set - although I wish you good luck in trying to finish both products at the same time. With their different consistency and packaging.. I think that’ll be a toughie.
