A Chanel Autumn Look

It's definitely time to face the truth: even though the sun has decided to grace us with its presence once again after all, Autumn is fast approaching and I don't necessarily think that'd a bad thing. Don't get me wrong - I love wearing slippers and showing off bright nail polishes on my toe nails. I'm also just very comfortable in booties, parkas and thick knits. And on top of that, I've been loving the Autumn collections again. I think Autumn collections are my very favourite of the year - along with nature, shades tend to lean over to the neutral spectrum and everything's focused on feeling comfortable. Or at least that's how I see it.

Chanel's doing Autumn just about perfectly right these days with their latest collection États Poétiques, a dreamy soft mauvey neutral collection featuring some true gems. The eyeshadow quad in Poésie is the star piece of the collection without a doubt, basic in colour combination but stunningly beautiful and versatile on your lids. This one is your go-to for office days, but also for date nights and clubbing adventures. Perfect to pair with it is the Rouge Coco Shine in Aura, which although not being super pigmented is definitely a subtle touch of berry for daily use.

I came up with this simple look using all four shades, I love the warmth of the darker shades and how this immediately kicks you right into the Autumn season. Imagine this kind of outfit along with it and you're good to go and ready for those leaves to come falling down. It works beautifully with a touch of Aura on the lips, and I find dark hair to sport these kinds of looks extra well. The texture of the eyeshadows is just about perfect - much different than the pre-2014 baked quad formula, I assure you. This Rouge Coco Shine is quite pigmented for its formula (but no, not as much as a regular lipstick), which ironically did cause a little trouble around the dryer parts of my lips. Well scrubbed and hydrated lips are a must for these!

Chanel's États Poétiques collection is in stores now. The eyeshadow quad in Poésie retails for €50.00/£40.00, while the Rouge Coco Shine retails for €32.00/£25.00.
