I'm always the most excited about Autumn collections. I'm not sure whether it's the sudden crave for more makeup in my daily routine after going through Summery months where usually you use a little less - or perhaps it's because warmer, darker shades have always been more up my alley and that's what I seem to associate Autumn with. The collections this year have been beautiful - they make me way more excited than what I've already seen announced for the Holidays. I've been lucky enough to play around with some of the new stuff and while some just aren't really my thing, there are also some products that didn't steal my heart at first glance but ended up running away with it after some thorough testing. That's how it went with this Palette Extravagancia by Givenchy. The purple made me a little scared at first, but when I used it together with the other shades.. It felt a little bit like Guerlain's Crazy Paris palette all over again (see how unexpectedly gorgeous that one turned out here), as with this palette it's all about what the colours do together rather than how they look separately.
Before going on about the Extravagancia collection, I want to draw some attention to the new scent launch by Givenchy. Dahlia Divin is their newest drop with the beautiful Alicia Keys as the face of the campaign. It's a very warm and woody floral scent, with a good hint of Patchouli. Not completely my cup of tea, but if you're into these kinds of scents you might want to pick up a little tester to see how it performs on your skin. Back to the makeup - two new and limited edition Le Rouge's have been added to this collection , of which I have Pourpre Inouï. It's a beautiful plummy red shade that probably looks different depending on your own lip colour & skin tone. This formula is absolutely gorgeous - very creamy and pigmented, and very long-lasting too. The packaging on the palette is beautiful as we're getting used to by Givenchy now - it's quite sturdy and also contains a little brush and an applicator. All the shades perform really well, although I do need to warn you about some fall out with the glittery shades. Eyes first & foundation/concealer afterwards is the message!
In this look I used the purple shade all over my lid, warming it up with the brown shade in the outer corner of my eye & the crease. I added a little extra of the brown shade in the outer corner of the eye, to make it a little darker. In the inner corner I patted on a lot of the golden glitter shade, slightly blending it out over the rest of the lid for a light dusting there. On my cheeks I'm wearing the cheek/lips shade, which you can use very sparingly for a sheer healthy blush or build up for some more oomph. On the lips you see the elegant shade Pourpre Inouï, which lays somewhere in between red and plum on my lips. This is a look I'd definitely wear for a fancy night out, or better yet for New Year's Eve as it's so festive!
