I've had such a hectic last full week of work, so I'm not doing my planned Sunday favourites post today as I'm not even sure what my favourites were (sleep probably, although I didn't get enough of it.) So let's chat a little about the The Body Shop Christmas products this year. They've changed their Christmas product line-up quite a bit - I am very sad to see the Ginger Sparkle products go (it was the best Christmas scent), but luckily they replaced it with a new and delicious Vanilla Brûlée range. It smells exactly like crème brûlée - so yum! Another newbie is the Glazed Apple scent, which is super sweet and sugary. I was doing some last minute Christmas shopping yesterday and passed by my local The Body Shop store and noticed a second product for 50% off promo happening with some of the new Christmas products, although I don't think it applies on gift sets. So if you still need to fill some Christmas stockings.. Three days left!
My favourite gift of this year's The Body Shop Christmas range is definitely their Schoolbook. There are three of them, of which I got the Schoolbook of Joy which has four Vanilla Brûlée scented products inside. The book itself is made in Nepal by a community Fair Trade supplier. A small part of the proceeds of a selection of gifts bought this year go to the Children in Education initiative that The Body Shop set up together with War Child, an organisation helping children that live in war. For each selected gift bought, The Body Shop is funding one lesson for one child. Their goal is to fund 6 million lessons for kids in war zones with all the The Body Shop gifts sold worldwide. That's a lot of gifts indeed! Other versions of this school book are Love (with Cranberry scented products) and Peace (with Glazed Apple scented products). You can also donate directly to War Child. Check out their website for more info on how to do so.
If I'd need to choose between the two new scents, I'd definitely go for Vanilla Brûlée. It's a sweet and warm scent (although not the sticky sweet kind) and smells exactly like crème brûlée. So yum! The Glazed Apple scent is something else though - it's very sugary and reminds me a little of apple soda or apple cider.. Definitely nothing like spiced apple cake, which I maybe would have preferred. I did want to give the scent a try though and used the Glazed Apple Body Butter and actually ended up loving it! The sugary sweet side of the scent calms down on the skin, and as usual I'm just a huge fan of the formula of the The Body Shop body butters. It's very creamy, gorgeously soft on the skin and moisturises for hours on end.
I'm sadly not a huge fan of the make-up this year. Last year's palettes were very wearable and while I find that The Body Shop has a great quality in eyeshadows, I just didn't like the frosted pastels theme this year. To each their own, of course! There are some other items in the Christmas make-up collection though that make fun little gifts for sisters or friends, such as the Lip & Cheek Stain Dolly for girls that like a healthy blush or the Sparkler (comes in Vanilla Brûlée, Frosted Cranberry and Glazed Apple scented variations) for anyone who loves a good bit of shimmer. This one is fun to use in your hair for example. And as usual, there are lots of lip glosses and lip balms to be found in cute packaging. My favourite must be the greeting cards that come with a small soap and hand cream - this is perfect to bring along to a Christmas party you've been invited to, or to give to your closest colleagues. I don't have a picture of it as I didn't spot it in the store, but you can check it out here.
Speaking of cuteness.. How cute are these shower sponges?! Although I'm still a bigger fan of shower puffs (they make more foam, what can I say), these make for the cutest stocking filler! I have the Polar Bear version hanging in my shower - it seriously cheers me up in the morning.
We bought lots of The Body Shop gifts for our family last year, and the year before that we bought a few pretty LUSH gift sets. This year we've focused on getting everyone multiple small gifts, so I'll be paying my local shop another visit to see if I can find some small bits to add to the packages. And of course I'm going to treat myself along the way with a Honeymania Shower Gel & Vanilla Brûlée Bubble Bath Melt since these are in promo too and they're just.. SO GOOD!
Vanilla Brûlée Bath Melt - €9.00
Honey Mania Shower Gel - €7.00 (I will pay €3.50 because of the promo)
