Bread Pudding, the reason to keep all stale bread

Bread Pudding Recipe
I always buy way too much bread. Instead of just tossing stale bread in the bin, keep it! When you’ve acquired enough (and trust me, you’ll get there quickly) you can easily turn it into a lovely bread pudding.

What you’ll need: (slightly altered Piet Huysentruyt’s recipe)
 350 grams of old bread
500 ml of semi skimmed milk
 200 grams of white sugar
 2 egg yokes
 1 dl full cream
 1 bag of vanille sugar
raisins / nuts / dried fruits as you wish

Cut the bread into pieces and set aside. In a cooking pot, mix the milk, vanille sugar and white sugar and bring to boiling point.

Add the bread to the cooking milk/sugar mixture. Then, mix the egg yokes & cream in a separate bowl. Now pour the mixture into the cooking pot with the milk/sugar/bread mixture. Now add your extra’s (raisins, nuts or fruits).

Grease a cake tin with a royal amount of butter and pour in the warm mixture. Doesn’t it look delicious?

Then, bake for about 45/55 minutes in a preheated oven on 180°C.

So from now on, don’t waste any more bread! Just get creative with this basic recipe. You can add whatever you like, or even add some chocolate spread as a topping.
