The Fanciest Gloss Today: Chanel's Tocade

The Fanciest Gloss Today: Chanel's Tocade
I’ve tried quite some lip glosses over the years - I think any girl starts with glosses first and then move over to lipsticks, -stains & their friends. But I have to admit: I had never tried a Chanel lipgloss. I got to try the Lèvres Scintillantes in 182 Tocade, a pretty sheer plum shade which is part of the new Collection Variation. This is hands down the fanciest gloss I’ve carried with me - the clear/gold/black packaging is just perfect.

I’m absolutely in love with plum shades, so it’s no surprise that I love the plum shades in the collection the very most. Check one of the plum Coco Shine lipsticks from the same collection in a last week’s article here. This gloss looks quite dark and pigmented in the bottle &  in the swatch, but it translates much sheerer onto the lips. There’s no glitter, but a gorgeous amount of shine. This is one of those glosses you could easily wear to work - it’s not a glitter bomb, has an easy-going formula that allows frequent touch-ups and gives your look a subtle dose of extra character.

Even though Tocade is quite a lot sheerer than I had expected, and although it’s not an in your face kinda plum, I still love how it transforms my lips and adds a subtle but noticeable pop of colour. The formula not too thick, which is a huge plus for me - some glosses can sometimes feel like a thick paste, but this is actually very light weight. It does accentuate some of the lines in my lips (keep in mind: my lips are always terribly dry), but nothing that’s really noticeable. It really is that gorgeous shine that won my heart here. This’ll hold like most other lip glosses, demanding touch-ups throughout the day. Definitely won’t survive a snack or meal, but who’d expect it to anyway?

Chanel's Lèvres Scintillantes in Tocade 182 is a permanent addition to the Chanel line-up and retails for €27.50.
