What’s up with all this glossy-ish gorgeousness lately! Lancôme launched the motto ‘all your lips need is love’ and launched this gorgeous Lip Lover thing a month or so ago. It’s kinda (but not completely!) similar to Dior’s recently launched Fluid Sticks offering the shine of a gloss, the pigmentation of a lipstick and the moisturising elements of a lip balm. That latest treat is immediately where Lip Lover differs from the Fluid Sticks: instead of making it an long-lasting stain, Lancôme opted for extra moisturising benefits. And boy have they succeeded - this one feels amazing. With my always chapped lips, extra moisturising properties are no luxury. This is probably the balmiest all-in-one lippie I’ve tried to date!


Upon application this one doesn’t feel all too sticky - perhaps a tiny little bit, but it’s far better than most other glossy products I’ve tried. The colour I picked out is 338 Rose Des Cygnes, which sits in the Basic Chic line. There’s also a bolder range of colours available called Creative Chic, but it’s well within expectations that I ended up with a basic color. Nothing better for date night than a good deep mauvey berry colour, right? The applicator is quite pointy - Lancôme says it’s the shape of an arrow, ready to find love. And love it finds! The applicator is perfect for precision application, something definitely needed with this amount of pigmentation. Nope, girls.. You will indeed need a mirror to apply this one. I immediately detected a pleasant scent during application - there’s a faint rose vanilla scent to the Basic Chic shades, while the Creative Chic shades smell like violets. Ain’t that nice? The best trait of all though is probably how long-lasting AND moisturising these are at the same time! While these seem a bit less pigmented and don’t stain as much as the Dior Fluid Sticks, the Lancôme Lip Lover formula stays smooth and balmy throughout the whole wearing time - a feature the Fluid Sticks lack. In terms of reapplication time, I’d reapply this one after three to four hours or a few drinks to keep the shine and pigmentation vivid.

These Lancôme Lip Lover hybrid lip thingies retail for a reasonable €25.00/£18.00/$23.00 and aren’t limited edition as far as I know. There are 20 different shades at the moment - but if you’re looking for the prettiest one.. Mine is most defo it!
