A Festive Plum Look

A Festive Plum Look
Lately I've really been enjoying doing these kinds of posts that feature eye looks & show off some of the products that I've been liking. It took some bickering with the lighting in my house to find a good set-up with my new camera, but I now finally feel happy with the results! Today I'm showing you a look that I find perfect for wearing to dinner parties or cocktails with friends, although I must admit that I took pictures for this post in the morning and wore the look the whole day through. It survived grocery shopping, lunch, napping (I'm all for naps), Christmas tree decorating & a long dinner party. How great is that? The look is created around the Guerlain Ecrin 2 Couleurs in Cygne Noir, which is part of the Guerlain Christmas collection this year. Although I didn't deem it the most special piece in the collection, it turned out to be quite pretty.

I used the plum Guerlain shade from the Cygne Noir duo all over the lid and reapplied a few times to get the right colour density. I smoked it out a little for more depth in the outer corners of my eyes with the sparkly black Guerlain shade. Plum colours are absolute must-haves for anyone with green eyes - look how it makes them pop! A thin winged out black liner completes the look - again I used Burberry's Effortless Liquid Liner which is such a joy to work with! You can see it in thicker action here. On the lower lash line I added a hint of the plum colour, although not too much. For mascara I used the new Lancôme Grandiose mascara which has a weird new bent handle but creates tons of volume and length.  I sometimes fill in my eyebrows, but I do it much less often than before. For this look I just brushed through them with Maybelline's Brow Drama brow mascara. It keeps them in place all day and adds a tiny bit of colour.

On my skin I'm wearing Burberry's Fresh Glow Nude Radiance in No. 1 as a base on my cheeks and around my nose, which preps my skin for foundation and tackles any dryness. It also gives a gorgeous natural glow - I am not wearing any highlighter in this picture and still my skin is very luminous! For foundation I have Dior's Star Foundation on in their lightest shade 010, a perfect match for NC15 skin tones. You can find a full review for that foundation here.  I'm also finally showing you that awesome new budget blush I was talking about - L'Oréal Paris Le Blush in Luminous Rose has been my go-to blush ever since it ended up in my mailbox. The L'Oréal blush is pretty awesome: very pigmented, glowy and super long lasting. For amazing cheekbones I like to pair it with Burberry's Earthy Blush Light Glow in No. 7 Natural Blush which is actually a great contouring shade for ivory skin tones. I've been loving it so much that the pattern in the powder has almost disappeared. On my lips I'm wearing Guerlain's Gloss d'Enfer in 920 Rouge Parade, which is also part of the Guerlain Christmas collection.  It accentuates dry spots and lines a little too much for my liking though, so I'm not a fan of this one.

I loved wearing this look (minus the gloss) for a dinner party and was happy to see it all actually stay put on my face - yay for smudge free dinner parties! And I'm becoming somewhat addicted to plum on my eyes..
