Time for a quick festive mani tip, right on time for New Year's eve. I'm often browsing Pinterest admiring manicures that I could never pull off myself - kudos to you if you're one of those skilled and patient types! This mani I did is different though: it looks all spiffy and hard, but it's pretty easy if you just follow my steps. Take it from a Pinterest mani rookie..
I apply a base coat first (I like using Guerlain La Base and Morgan Taylor Stick With It), followed by two coats of Dior Nail Lacquer in the shade Bar 902. Make sure that every coat is super dry before you add a new one - this is a classic mistake I used to make all the time. Then I take out the beautiful limited edition Guerlain Nail Lacquer in the shade L'Oiseau De Feu (Le Top Coat Or) and grab the chunky gold flakes one by one (with a dotting tool) to place them where you need them, covering a little less then half of your nail. To make this easier I shake the bottle now and then and pick up the flakes from the brush. This should dry pretty quickly as you're not picking up a lot of clear polish this way - just make sure that the flakes are completely flat so they won't get stuck on anything. For a bit of a fuller effect, I added some smaller gold shimmer on top of the flakes with the old limited edition Catrice nail polish Million Dollar Baby. Try and make this as thin as possible so there's no difference in thickness. Then when all that is completely dry, it's time for a glossy top coat to make those flakes and shimmers sparkle! I used Morgan Taylor Make It Last. Et voila, NYE mani.. sorted!
