M.A.C's Pink Ambition

MAC Cosmetics Flamingo Ambition
Pink ambition. Talk of the town Twitter where I live, but elsewhere people will most probably correct you and tell you that that movie was actually called Blonde Ambition. Either way, I love a good dose of pink. I have hot pink Adidas Pharrell Williams shoes (exhibit here) and I get a little too excited when I'm near a Victoria's Secret PINK store. That put aside though, I haven't really been very experimental with pink in my makeup looks - and it looks like MAC Cosmetics noticed. They've been all about pink these days, from their latest Flamingo Park collection to a few beautiful new pink lippies releasing across multiple new product launches.

MAC Cosmetics Flamingo Pink Ambition
Lez start with the Flamingo Park collection that just launched last month. Pink eyeshadow? Can be really pretty when done right. With done right, I'm thinking looks like this one here. You need to combine with golds, browns & a bit of black to balance it out. I haven't experimented with this eyeshadow in 'Bird's Eye View' yet, but I will do so next weekend & if anything interesting comes out of it I'll treat you to a full look. Pinky promise. Also, please don't mind my blotchy skin in the following pictures. I just had a dermatologist treatment done two days before and even a full coverage foundation didn't cover up all of the very visible marks.

M.A.C Cosmetics Cremesheen Glass in Sweet Tooth
The Cremesheen Glass in Sweet Tooth is also part of the very pink Flamingo Park collection. While some parts of the collection are borderline unwearable for me, this one is perfect for day to day looks. I love the creamy feel and finish of the lipgloss. It's a pretty peachy pink colour (a 'my lips but better' kind of pink for me personally), but sadly the formula does settle into lines a little bit, where the colour appears a tad lighter. This one would probably perform best with a base underneath to avoid it from sinking into lines.

MAC Velvetease
M.A.C Cosmetics Velvetease Lip Pencil in Tease Me
The Velvetease Lip Pencils are a new launch and another venture into that matte finish hype we've all been following. I love the idea of a pencil - the shade makes it very easy to follow your natural lip line. The shade Tease Me is nothing I'd ever wear personally - it's a bubblegum pale pink (that is very hard to photograph by the way - it's a little less fluorescent in real life) that does not work well against my skin tone. That put aside, I did really like the colour payoff and ease of application. These types of shades are very unforgiving though - you can notice the dryness of my lips pretty well while it didn't immediately feel very drying. I didn't wear it long enough to comment on the long term feel & wear though.

MAC liquid lipstick
M.A.C Cosmetics Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Personal Statement
The Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour are also a new launch (well, fairly new.. out since January) and were long awaited. These promise a very full opaque colour that dries matte instantly and stays put for hours and hours and hours.. The promises are all true. Personal Statement is a very hot fluorescent pink - I love this pink and I definitely need to pick up the guts to wear these types of shades more often. Or just wear them tout court, actually. The wand is super easy to use and makes detailed application very effortless. The formula dries down very fast and does turn very matte, so I find that I need to keep a neutral expression until it has dried down to prevent any cracks in the finish. It's definitely a quite drying formula, so wearing a nourishing lip balm underneath is a must. This wears for hours on end and removing it isn't as easy as other lip colours - I really need to use a good oil that breaks down the formula to remove it completely.

So how do you wear your pinks? I like the Kylie Jenner type of brown pinks the best - they are so easy to wear. I am currently eyeing up Kat Von D.'s Liquid Lipstick in Lolita which is just perfection to me, for example. If you know other brands that have similar shades in good formula's - hook me up!
