Growing Out My Hair: Recent Hair Care Favourites

I've been trying to grow my hair longer the past half year, as because of some logic I always seem to want the exact opposite hairdo of what I have going on. My hair is a bit of a frizzy mess though, so I'm always heat styling it after washing. That means I blow dry and straighten it three times a week.. Which isn't too ideal when you want your hair to grow long as quickly as possible. However I've been getting compliments about how shiny my hair is - even though my last colour has been a few months ago - and it's always when I use this one certain product.. So I thought it's the perfect timing to share my recent hair care favourites with you!

Phyto Aveda Hair Care Review
The magical shine product I'm talking about is the Phyto Paris Phytomillesime leave-in concentrate. Formulated specifically for coloured hair with "Red Love Apple technology" (sounds fancy!) to shield against external aggressors and damage, it gives a beautiful shine to my hair and makes my colour appear much richer than it truly is. Three separate colleagues have complimented me on how healthy my hair looked when I had just used this, so I'm pretty stoked about this beauty. I apply it as a leave-in treatment right before blow-drying, across the lengths and ends of my hair but avoiding my scalp.

Another great Phyo Paris product is the Phytokératine Extrême Exceptional Cream, formulated with keratin plant to prevent further breakage and split ends to damaged hair. I love applying this generously to the ends of my hair right before blow-drying - I also love to combine with Phytomillesime as this leave-in also provides heat protection up until 230°C.

Lastly I have also been loving the Aveda Damage Remedy Split End Repair. This one visibly "repairs" split ends (note: you can never actually repair a split end, you can only make them appear undamaged) with a nifty formula that makes my hair look like it's just had a good chop. Apart from sealing the split ends in my hair, it also makes the ends look thicker. A great finishing product after blow drying and styling!

If you want to read more about how to take better care of your hair, also check out this article on the use of oils in my hair care routine. I'll also be experimenting with a bi-weekly protein treatment again soon (read about the Joico K-Pak treatment here), so I have good hopes that I'll be sporting long wavy locks again by next winter!
