New Jelly In Town: Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly

Finally, another post on the blog.. Life's been pretty busy and the blog has been on the back burner, but I've still been loving beauty & makeup and have been sharing my discoveries and faves on Instagram. This one though, I really wanted to do a full post on. I have been trying out a new moisturiser that caught my eye immediately when it launched: the Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly. My very first skin care regimen was by Clinique: the pretty iconic three step regimen that consisted of a soap bar, toner & moisturising lotion changed the way I cared for my skin from when I was about 16 years old. A friend of mine used it (along with the bi-phase makeup remover which is still my favourite) and I was happy to jump on the same bandwagon. In hindsight the DDML (Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion) wasn't the best pick for my combination/oily skin type, so I moved on to jelly and lotion type moisturisers in my twenties. Now, fast forward to fifteen years later, a new moisturiser has finally been added to the Clinique Dramatically Different range that perfectly suits my skin!

Clinique DDM Jelly Review
The jelly-like lotion is super lightweight and oil-free, which works best for oily/combination skin types as it respects the skin's moisture levels while not being too intense or heavy. Formulated with glycerin and hyaluronic acid, this jelly attracts moisture and binds it to the skin. Also important to note: this one is also formulated without fragrance, so it's great for those with fragrance sensitive skin.

In terms of finish, it absorbs pretty quickly and does not leave a sticky feeling or shiny look. I wear SPF daily, so it's important for me that I don't layer on too many thick layers of product that might cause my makeup to fade or "melt" away too quickly during the day. While still being moisturising, it does not leave a sticky thick layer of unabsorbed moisturiser behind. Clinique promises to moisturise for a full 24 hours, which is a nice promise although I cleanse my face both in the morning & evening followed up by the appropriate moisturising. I'm not one to preach, but you should definitely do so too ;)

Clinique Jelly Moisturiser Review
Clinique is also proud of its "Clean-Shield Technology" which is in this formula, a combination of ingredients they claim shields skin against pollution, while restoring skin's hydration and building back the skin's protective moisture barrier. It's difficult for me to comment on whether or not this has been fighting off the bad effects of pollution - all I can comment about is how my skin looks and feels, and that has been positive. Whether or not anti-pollution is a thing in skin care I don't know as I'm not an expert, although you can do some reading on the topic here if you're interested.

Finally I'm also very pleasantly surprised about the cost per use of this jelly moisturiser. By the time these pictures were taken I had been using the moisturiser for about 6 weeks, so you can see that I still have many months to go with this 125ml bottle that retails for €56.40. I really need only one pump for my whole face, two if I also do my whole neck. From all of the jelly moisturisers I have tried, this is definitely one of the best priced ones.

Repurchase factor: High! Thanks to the large formats probably needed only once a year 😍
Price: Very budget-friendly for a mid range brand, especially for 125ml 💵
Packaging: Iconic & recognisable, love the see-through effect of the clear jelly 🎀
Formula: Awesome for my sensitive oily/combination skin 👌
